Printed face
Outside wound places the printed face on the outside of the web; inside wound places it toward the core. Confirm the machine requirement.
Prepare the roll details needed for machine-applied labels, or share the equipment information you have.
Guide prepared 29 October 2026. Measurements and operating limits must be confirmed for your machine.
A roll is more than a core size: the equipment must accept the roll, feed the web and present the correct edge for application.
Send your applicator make and model, a machine specification or a photo of a working roll. Your project contact can help confirm the details.
Describe whether the printed labels face outside or inside the roll, then specify the edge that leaves first. These are separate details.
Outside wound places the printed face on the outside of the web; inside wound places it toward the core. Confirm the machine requirement.
Looking at the printed label upright, identify whether its top, bottom, left or right edge reaches the applicator first.
Send a simple marked sketch, a photo or the applicator manual. Direction numbers can mean different things in different systems.
These are two examples, not the only choices; a left or right edge may lead. Keep the printed-face orientation and the leading edge on the proof. The hero drawing illustrates a roll; it does not establish your unwind direction.
Use millimetres and identify whether each measurement refers to the label, liner, core or the full roll.
| Measurement | What to confirm |
|---|---|
| Label width & height | Finished label dimensions and the orientation in which artwork is read. |
| Core inside diameter | The inside diameter of the roll core required by the equipment. |
| Maximum outer diameter | The maximum finished roll diameter accepted by the machine. |
| Web / liner width | The total width of the liner feeding through the applicator. |
| Gap and pitch | Gap is the space between labels; pitch is the repeat distance from the same point on one label to the next. |
| Labels per roll | Required count if the process needs a defined roll length or changeover schedule. |
Gather what is available; your machine documents can answer questions you cannot measure.
Brand, model and any available manual or applicator drawing.
A sample, photograph or measurements of a roll that works in the machine.
Pack material, label dimensions, line speed and the conditions at application.
The fields below are optional. Confirm measurements in the quotation and proof before production.
Describe the leading edge from the printed face and share a photograph or machine document if you have one. A direction number by itself may be ambiguous.
A roll drawing does not make every decorative paper or transfer suitable for a roll applicator.
